Meet the Board

The Rod Sheer Cancer Foundation was founded by the surviving members of the Sheer Family and is watched over and guided by a passionate, dedicated, and compassionate board of directors.

Quinton J Sheer
President
Born in Elmira, New York, Quinton is proud to carry on the legacy of his father, Rodney Nathan Sheer. He currently lives in Orlando, FL where he works as Sales Manager for Trader Publishing. He is the Host and Creator of the Innovative PodCast and Internet Radio show, "Q's House." Quinton is a graduate of Fordham University in New York City and proud alumni of Up With People (Cast D96) and Semester at Sea (Fall 98).

Rebecca J. Sheer
Director & Co-founder
Rebecca, a graduate of Widener University's School of Hospitality Management, resides in Miami, Florida and currently does work for BSS&S. Her passion and expertise lie in the travel and tourism industry where she has extensive experience in many domestic and international hotel chains. Rebecca is a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society and of the American Hotel and Lodging Alumni Association. When she is not working on RSCF fundraisers, Bekki enjoys playing the flute and dancing.

Emery B Sheer
Treasurer
Born and raised in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, Emery is a Senior Partner in Berenfeld, Spritzer, Shechter, & Sheer. He has expertise in litigation support services and in the entertainment industry with a client list that includes performing artists, athletes, and not-for-profit organizations. Emery is hopeful the tragic loss of his brother, Rodney Sheer, can be turned into hope and joy for others in similar situations.

Stan Fediuk
Board Member - Webmaster
Stan was born and raised in New York City, NY. He was active in the Ukrainian Boy Scouts PLAST when he was younger. Stan is a graduate of Fordham University with a computer science major and a math minor. Currently, Stan is a freelance technology consultant and is in the process of starting his own consulting company. Stan also enjoys running (completed 2 NYC Marathons), photography, and learning to play flamenco guitar.

Elena Cortez-Lang
Board Member
"One of the greatest gifts I've received is my family." It is Elena's dedication to family and compassionate nature that prompted the RSCF to ask her to become a member of the board. Elena was born & raised in Corpus Christi, Texas and now resides in Maple Valley, Washington (near Seattle) with her husband Butch, lovely children Stacy and Travis, and numerous family pets. She is a graduate of Texas A & I University and has built a 23 year career with Paccar Marketing. Elena also volunteers for Catholic Community Services and the Life Teens of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Gerald R. Utter
Board Member
Education and service were big parts of Rod Sheer's life. Gerry Utter has personified the same dedication to education as this foundation's namesake. After 34 years as an educator Gerry retired from his teaching career after which he served 3 years on the Elmira School District Board of Education. In addition to the RSCF Board of Directors, he currently serves on the Advisory Board of Directors for the Salvation Army of Elmira. Gerry and his wife Katherine live in Elmira, NY and are very proud of their children Dan, Kerry, & David.
